I've never used retinol before — is this too strong? +
It's a good starting point. For the first two weeks, apply every other night after cleansing, using a rice-grain-sized amount. Once your skin adjusts, usually by week three, you can move to nightly use.
Is this pure retinol or a milder derivative? +
It's formulated with 0.1% pure Vitamin A retinol, not a derivative like retinyl palmitate. That's what gives it real effectiveness on wrinkles and pore size, alongside the 9-peptide complex.
What keeps it from irritating my skin? +
Panthenol, vitamin E, carrot root extract and allantoin are built into the formula to soothe and hydrate while the retinol works. A slight tingling on first use is normal — a patch test is recommended if you have sensitive skin.

No — this is a PM-only serum. Retinol increases sun sensitivity, so use it at night and always follow with sunscreen the next morning.
